There are many positive outcomes from using adult day services and Grace Center sees this over and over with their participants.

Health Status is improved or maintained through:

  • Improving or maintaining mobility (strength, balance and gait)
  • Preventing falls and related fractures
  • Providing and encouraging adequate nutrition and hydration
  • Managing incontinence and preventing urinary tract infections
  • Administering and monitoring medications and reporting adverse effects to physician
  • Reporting health changes to family/physician and preventing hospitalization

Problematic behaviors are decreased or prevented through:

  • Decreasing agitation and restlessness
  • Improving nighttime sleep
  • Preventing injuries related to wandering

Mood disturbances are decreased through:

  • Decreasing and preventing depression
  • Increasing social interaction and communication
  • Increasing self esteem and life satisfaction

Family caregivers receive support through:

  • Providing respite: time to work, take care of business, spend time with other family and friends, and to rest.
  • Improving or maintaining their own physical health and psychological well-being
  • Enabling him or her to keep the family member at home
  • Supportive care management and team-work
