There are many positive outcomes from using adult day services and Grace Center sees this over and over with their participants.
Health Status is improved or maintained through:
- Improving or maintaining mobility (strength, balance and gait)
- Preventing falls and related fractures
- Providing and encouraging adequate nutrition and hydration
- Managing incontinence and preventing urinary tract infections
- Administering and monitoring medications and reporting adverse effects to physician
- Reporting health changes to family/physician and preventing hospitalization
Problematic behaviors are decreased or prevented through:
- Decreasing agitation and restlessness
- Improving nighttime sleep
- Preventing injuries related to wandering
Mood disturbances are decreased through:
- Decreasing and preventing depression
- Increasing social interaction and communication
- Increasing self esteem and life satisfaction
Family caregivers receive support through:
- Providing respite: time to work, take care of business, spend time with other family and friends, and to rest.
- Improving or maintaining their own physical health and psychological well-being
- Enabling him or her to keep the family member at home
- Supportive care management and team-work
